Jon and I have taken a bit of break for wedding planning. I know we really need to find an officiant and a DJ (what's more important: getting the right person to perform the ceremony, or finding the right person to trust with music selection? Truly a tough call), but I really don't feel like dealing with it!
Sure, Jon and I got a lot accomplished quickly - but that's because those decisions were all so easy! They just fell into place. I know nothing of DJs or wedding officiants, hence more work and hence my reluctance.
I do have a clear idea of what I want for center pieces (not ready to reveal that yet) and I am almost finished creating our custom guest book on Shutterfly (thanks again, Rebes, for the idea!). Oh, and I did reserve all six rooms at the Taylor House B&B in Jamaica Plain. At $160/night they are far more affordable than any other place within a five mile radius of downtown Boston.

You don't need to know much about DJs really. If you were at a wedding recently and thought the DJ was halfway decent, you're probably ok to call them. You can kind of tell them what categories of music are ok, which are not, and what they are under no circumstances allowed to play. (Meatloaf's "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" in our case. We wanted a Meatloaf-free reception, thank you very much.) Or you could go with my original idea for complete musical control: Laptop with iTunes hooked up to some speakers.
